As future leaders, we continually strive to build stronger ties with our communities and the individuals within them. It is through this understanding that we grow and develop broader worldviews that will shape and support our lives. We celebrate our history through traditions that honor the past while serving the future.
Part of the NCL, Inc. experience is to promote social awareness and compassion for how to be a responsible individual in our increasingly global society. The NCL Six Year plan is designed to give a broad perspective to our Ticktockers so that as they develop into future leaders they can appreciate and value the differences in each other and in the world around them.
Throughout their six years in NCL, Whittier Chapter Ticktockers are encouraged to attend a wide variety of cultural experiences such as musical theater, dramatic theater, art or historical museums, cultural centers, art festivals, ballet or dance performances, symphonies, operas, choral performances, historic buildings and parades.
Even as we celebrate a variety of cultures and traditions, we also honor our own historical traditions of culture. For example, at the end of each year we have our Awards Tea where each Senior Ticktocker honors her mother with a heartfelt speech to thank her for her memorable years in NCL. Other types of activities are designed to teach our Ticktockers appropriate etiquette, graciousness, good manners, personal communications, self-assuredness and respect for others. It is a fun and interesting way of teaching the importance of recognizing and appreciating differences as our Ticktockers become more socially aware contributors in our community.
