The NCL, Inc. Six Year plan for our Ticktockers includes various opportunities to build leadership skills in a nurturing and supportive environment. The goal is to provide foundational knowledge and tools so that our Ticktockers can realize their individual potential and gain greater confidence and empowerment to affect a positive impact in themselves and their community.
Each Ticktocker class from 7th to 12th grade elect their own officers each year to conduct the business in their monthly meetings. Through the meetings and other planned events the girls learn organizational skills, time management, parliamentary procedures, consensus building, budgeting, team building, conflict resolution, event planning, public speaking and effective communication. Sometimes taking on the responsibility of a new leadership role can be uncertain but getting out of one’s own “comfort zone” can also lead to important self-discovery of new interest and talents!
Our Patroness mothers also benefit from taking on new and challenging leadership positions in our chapter. As such, they act as positive role models for their daughters as they learn new skills in our organization. These new leadership skills are put into practice when working with our own members, partner philanthropies and community members. The leadership experiences in NCL for both Patronesses and Ticktockers will foster personal growth and self-confidence that will serve them well in their future endeavors.
